tractor trailers - door to doorSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 11/18/2009 - 14:13.
You are looking at the reason why there will not be a new ocean/Lake Eire container port for Cleveland, or any other Great Lake city. These owner/operated trucks get frieght from the Atlantic, or the Pacific, to anywhere in North America weeks earlier, and a lot cheaper, than any frieght which travels the St. Lawrence Seaway. The Real NEO Post-Citizen-Hauser Era, Year 2: Learning The Meaning Of "The Process Is Broken!"Submitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 11/16/2009 - 14:15.
Citizen Ed Hauser, Victorious In The Battle Of Whiskey Island - "Ask Not What Your Planet Can Do For You..." It has been a year since Northeast Ohio lost our selfless civic activist "Citizen" Ed Hauser, silencing the great voice in the community saying that "The Process is Broken". November 14, 2009 - the one-year anniversary of Ed's death - a group of family and friends came together on the beautiful Whiskey Island Ed saved, before a late Autumn setting sun, to toast a glorious man, and mourn a most cursed and horrible year in Northeast Ohio without Ed. What does the dawn hold for this long-suffering region, in the second year without Citizen Hauser?

Coast Guard Station - disrespected by ClevelandSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 11/13/2009 - 22:44.
This is the best building in North East Ohio. But not one government official gives a damn about it - because no developer can figure out how to make any money off of it - Jacobs tried but left the joint to the city with a million in tax arrears - so it just sits with its roof off (yeah, what happened to that $500,000 contract last spring?). Ed Hauser took me through it. Ed gave a damn.

REALNEO Artist For All Seasons: Julian Stanczak asks 'what does it do to you?'Submitted by Norm Roulet on Sat, 11/07/2009 - 10:11.
Happy 81st Birthday, Julian Stanczak... born November 5, 1928. Julian is an originator and continuing master of Op Art - one of the most important and renowned artists ever - and his work is stronger now than ever. All that is seen without doubt in 116 remarkable paintings exhibited as compositions in Julian's amazing body of expansive, precise, cohesive "Recent Work", now showing at MoCA. Grouped as three colorful masterpieces, and a series of 10 individual black and white expressions, all these paintings stand together as one conclusive, vibrant statement, that life is an amazing experience, as only Julian may know.
Real Coop Energy, Year 2Submitted by Norm Roulet on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 18:11.
It is an amazing feeling heating your home with wood. You are able to survive in the harshest of weather, with nothing but mother nature on your side, and no gas bills... and, you may cook and heat water while you heat your environment. Quite clever, really... invented by cavewomen, I believe.
Election Day! Cleveland council race features unique candidateSubmitted by talbano on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 14:10.
By Teresa Albano CLEVELAND - Volunteers are going house to house in this hard-hit city's West Side, getting out the vote for a candidate who they believe will "shake things up" and bring change to a neighborhood pockmarked with abandoned houses and torn up streets.
The Origins of REALNEOSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 11/02/2009 - 17:40.
October 7, 2009, we began our sixth year of ongoing, expansive, free, open source content management and global knowledge sharing, community building, social networking and collaboration on REALNEO. See posting Number 1, REALNEO Development Plan, from October 7, 2004, here, for links to many source documents from the planning and development of REALNEO, since 2004. Congratulations to all REALNEO members, from day one to today! We've come a long way, since 2004, and our outcomes run far deeper than is seen on the surface of REALNEO. Six years is an eternity, in the world of social computing - we're about 8 months younger than Facebook, and a paradigm beyond - we are Real Co-op!

unReal NEO Illegal Campaigning Signs Of The Day: Issue 6, in the Heights, and by RTASubmitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 10/30/2009 - 20:06.
Driving from Cleveland up into the eastern Heights, today, I noticed how different the political signs are in the most affluent part of the Cuyahoga County, compared to in my lowly 'hood... and how illegal. While there are quite a few pro-Issue 6 signs on front lawns of fancy houses, in the lofty Heights, where the pro-Issue 6 signs are most prominent is on public property, from Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights east.

Anti Public Health Option Picket at Cleveland ClinicSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 10/19/2009 - 18:32.
This afternoon at about 3:30 picketers began to arrive on Euclid Avenue opposite the Cleveland Clinic rock rowed reflecting pool. Mostly middle aged and all white, the apparent message I perceived was "No Public Option". The Cleveland Clinic Police observed from the corners to the left and right - to make sure the public sidewalk remained unobstructed and passable. ( categories: )
