Max Eternity - Why does it seem that no matter what President Obama does, Democrats refuse to admonish him? There are exceptions to the rule, like filmmaker Michael Moore who has ramped up his criticism of one of Obama's specific policies, war and occupation. And in the press Glenn Greenwald and Amy Goodman have consistently reported about Obama's almost complete embrace of "The Bush Doctrine." Yet by and large it seems that those on the Left--Liberals and most claiming to be Progressives--are very much unwilling to criticize Barack Obama. The image above shows a woman in a European store selecting a candy box with President Obama's image on it. If a picture is really worth a thousand words, it would seem that this single image illustrates the true nature of what a few on the Left are coming to see as Obama's celebrity packaging of junk food political policies of corporate welfare and endless war--much like his predecessor Bush.
Journalist Chris Hedges writes of this, the Left's ongoing pattern of tacit complicity in Obama's duplicity, at TruthDig.com in a piece entitled "Liberals Are Useless." It reads in part:
I am not disappointed in Obama. I don’t feel betrayed. I don’t wonder when he is going to be Obama. I did not vote for the man. I vote socialist, which in my case meant Ralph Nader, but could have meant Cynthia McKinney. How can an organization with the oxymoronic title Progressives for Obama even exist? Liberal groups like these make political satire obsolete. Obama was and is a brand. He is a product of the Chicago political machine. He has been skillfully packaged as the new face of the corporate state. I don’t dislike Obama—I would much rather listen to him than his smug and venal predecessor—though I expected nothing but a continuation of the corporate rape of the country. And that is what he has delivered. Read more.
