08/22/2005 - 09:00 Monday, Aug 22, 2005, 10:00 am FREE Children and parents alike were, and still are, captivated by Where the Wild Things Are that tells the story of a boy named Max who “made mischief of one kind or another� and is sent to his room without his supper. As readers will recall Max then sails on a private boat “through night and day� and becomes “king of the wild things�. Published in 1963, the book was awarded a Caldecott Medal in 1964. An exhibition for people of all ages, Where the Wild Things Are provides the opportunity for hands-on interaction with Sendak’s stories and characters. Visitors are encouraged to dress up like a “wild thing� and dance in the wild forest, cook in the “night Kitchen,� read on Rosie’s stoop, slide into a bowl of chicken soup and create their own masterpieces while listening to classical music.
