NEO-X-NY Roundtable outcomes and next stepsSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Wed, 08/24/2005 - 12:10.
As is our tradition, at the NEO Excellence portal, we have posted some notes and an attendee list from the First NEO-X-NY Roundtable, in a book bound at http://neoexcellence.realinks.us/NYNY. Our roundtables are outcome oriented, and the outcomes we pursue from the first NEO-X roundtable include developing the Community Development Venture Capital (CDVC) Fund we introduced in New York, expanding the NEO-X network in support of economic development in NEO, and assisting NEO Expatriates to return to or collaborate with NEO. Since the NEO-X roundtable, we have held two of our weekly roundtables at the City Club in Cleveland, where we shared observations from our discussions in New York... NEO-Expatriate interest in economic development in Northeast Ohio is appreciated back home. We have also met with investment bankers to further planning for the CDVC Fund we introduced in New York, and have indicated our interest to procede with the SDVC Alliance, in New York - see http://neoexcellence.realinks.us/NEO-CDVC-Fund. We will keep REALNEO readers informed on this pursuit - please feel free to let me know if you are specifically interested in helping with the development. We are planning to make the NEO-X Roundtable in NYNY at least a quarterly meeting, and are tentatively planning the next NY Roundtable for Monday, October 3rd, again at Jones Day. We will confirm as soon as the date is set and welcome anyone in the NYNY area who is interest to join us and continue our discussions - please inquire with me directly. We are planning similar NEO-X Roundtables in other areas of the country with large concentrations of NEO-Xers and will grow our virtual community to keep everyone who is interested included in the ongoing collaboration. As a result of attention to the NEO-X Roundtable on a popular blog in NEO, we have been contacted by a very distant NEO-Xer, who has spent the past 15 years in Japan, who expresses interest to return to Cleveland. I observe about a third of the people who attended the NEO-X in NY, or who responded to the invitation but could not attend, expressed interest to become reconnected with home. If you or anyone you know would like assistance connecting with anyone in NEO, at any level, please feel free to contact me directly and I'll do my best to help out. There is a sincere interest here to retain and return as much talent and intellectual property as possible and you will be embraced by this community. Best regards, Norm Roulet
