Don't forget the 2nd Debate between Peter Lawson Jones and his
opponent, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, September 23, 2008, at 6:30 pm at
the Umerly Center, 21016 Hilliard Boulevard, Rocky River, Ohio 44116. A review of the first debate is found on REALNEO here.
Directions from the East: Take I-90 West and exit at Hilliard Boulevard. Stay straight on
the exit to Hilliard. Once on Hilliard get in the right hand lane and
about 1/4 mile on your right you will see Rocky River City Hall at the
corner of Wagar Road and Hilliard Boulevard. Just past City Hall, take
first drive on your right to Umerly Center.
Well she was obviously better prepared and coached than the first but her message and understanding of the fundamentals have not changed.
One interesting tidbit picked up tonight was that her notion of reducing the size of government came from a school project she was working on. I would like to know what grade she got because the Commissioner slammed her with the facts that Bay's FTE's per capita were higher than Cuyahoga County. It got thunderous applause.
Also, this debate, held in DebFEE's backyard, was split pretty evenly amongst supporters. I would have thought she would have shown more strength here.
Did anyone talk to the Bay Firefighters in the room. They were obviously not happy with some of DebFEE's assertions on the budget and job cuts.

Good summary.... but you didn't mention she was boo'd by everyone in the audience, including her supporters, during her closing comments. I've never seen anything like that before, during an open debate.
I'll have pleny of additional thoughts to add about this... I'm still in shock over the depths of foolishness of Sutherland and this situation created by the Republican establishment, which was clearly in Rocky River in funding and paid staffing, but not heart (is there a Republican "heart" left in America?).
Yes, Sutherland went to Dale Carnegie classes this month. But she clearly hasn't finished college, and she isn't nearly Harvard material.

I live in Bay. It is unfortunate that we as the residents, are not treated equally. If you do something that doesn't please current administration, they have ways of "getting even" Just ask your neighbors and you will soon get information that isn't published. That is unless you live on the North side of Lake. You can build a 4 story home with out any issues, across the street, a driveway replacement for an existing driveway needs to be approved. I wonder who gets the pay offs.
Peter Larson Jones is honest, not vindictive. He cares about the community and the people. By Sutherland wanting to reduce workers in the county, she will just add to the already large problem of unemployment in the state. What was she thinking?

More later. Much to digest and dissect.
Boo... who... Sutherland
