Cleveland and Paris - Cultural MeccasSubmitted by lmcshane on Sun, 08/26/2018 - 07:55.
This past week, while going through the inventory of new books, I found an enchanting board book by elodie jarrett, a mysterious self-described French-Swedish designer. Her work led me to http://www.studiolaloretsgen.com/ and the website of Marie Anne-Bruschi https://www.re-voirparis.com/a-propos/. Please visit her portraits of Parisians, and explore Paname - the neighborhoods of Paris. It helps that her Paris is presented as this lovely guidebook. I am very grateful this year for Front International and efforts by the Collective Arts Network (CAN Journal) to promote Cleveland's wider geography of the arts. We must invite Ms. Bruschi here to curate the next Front Trienniel. She has the panache and design skills to do the job right. Wolf's Gallery is one of the places - you must visit for the "Cleveland is my Paris" experience. The show organized for FrontArt closes on August 31st. If you missed the panel discussion on Cleveland: A Cultural Center. The discussion is archived here: http://wolfsgallery.com/films A few images from my Paris experience this summer.

Ohio Arts
It's almost an embarassment of riches in Ohio. I just learned of the FotoFocus Biennial http://www.fotofocusbiennial.org/
Now in its fourth iteration, the 2018 FotoFocus Biennial encompasses more than 90 projects at museums and galleries across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton, and Columbus, and features more than 400 artists, curators, and educators—the largest of its kind in America.
Each Biennial is structured around a unifying theme. For 2018, that theme is Open Archive—emphasizing the centrality of photography and lens-based art to modernism, and examining our fundamental need to preserve photographs and to tell stories through their collection, organization, and interpretation.
And, while I did not fully grasp the theme of the inaugural Front Trienniel, I am grateful that this heroic effort prompted responsive art tourism and events at Wolf Gallery, 78th St Studios and a pop-up show in Akron at the temporary Pish Posh Gallery. Don't miss the closing party of Pish Posh in Akron on September 20th!
What: Pish Posh
When: Through Sept. 29, noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays
Where: Hieronymus and Superchief Gallery, 105 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308

Noblesse Oblige -CARTA
Noblesse oblige has a negative connotation, but it really, should not. I know lots of folks in Cleveland, grateful for their success in life who, in turn, give back to the community. CARTA is an organization that PREDATES the Cleveland Museum of Art. It deserves your support. I just joined- https://www.clevelandartassociation.org/ and I will confess, I did not know about this amazing group of dedicated art lovers until this week. I will post more - soon. The lottery for art is TODAY.
