The Center for Community Solutions' Human Services Institute is Ohio's longest-running and largest one-day professional development opportunity for staff and volunteers of health, social service, education, and other human service organizations.

For many professionals and volunteers at nonprofit organizations in Northeast Ohio, the Human Services Institute is a unique opportunity to learn about issues, trends, and best practices, and to network within their respective fields. It is their day to be educated, united, and inspired!

The 67th annual Human Services Institute of The Center for Community Solutions is a day of professional development and networking for people interested in improving Northeast Ohio. It includes 30 sessions and two plenary addresses, exhibits by 100+ community organizations, award presentations, and more.

One plenary address is by Robert Bullard, Ph.D., Director of the Environmental Justice Resource Center and Ware Distinguished Professor of Sociology, Clark Atlanta University, on the topic, Growing Smarter: Achieving Livable Communities and Environmental Justice.

One of the 30 sessions will help make connections between environmental issues and human services issues:

Session #6. Environmental Health and the Region―Addressing Environmental Health Concerns in Low- and Moderate Income Populations Environmental health concerns affect Ohioans on a daily basis. Whether it is the impact of lead and mold exposure in housing units or diesel emissions and poor air quality that lead to increased asthma and cancer rates, our region is looking for solutions to the root causes of these problems.

This session will highlight two organizations working with underrepresented communities on healthy home issues and cleaning up "diesel hotspots" through action and advocacy. [Repeats in the afternoon as Session #16]
